For families in The Tribute, schools matter. They influence daily routines, long term opportunities, and even the overall health of our community. Over the last few years, conversations around Little Elm ISD often centered on challenges tied to the COVID era and academic performance that lagged behind nearby districts. Today, that story is changing — and changing quickly.
That message came through clearly during a recent conversation between Little Elm ISD Superintendent Mike Lamb and The Tribute team, including Communications Coordinator Audrey Blaschke and Association Manager Nick Will, where Lamb shared both candid reflections and hard data on the district’s trajectory.
Lamb put it simply: “You’re not going to hurt your kids by putting them in our schools.” Backed by rising accountability scores, student success stories, and sustained progress across campuses, Little Elm ISD is proving that it’s — in Lamb’s words — “rolling and doing good things.”
Since 2023, Little Elm ISD has recorded an eight‑point increase in its overall accountability rating, rising from 71 in 2023 to 79 in 2025. That growth is consistent, intentional, and district‑wide:
- Little Elm High School rose from a 66 in 2023 to an 85 in 2025
- Strike Middle School improved from 74 in 2024 to 80 in 2025
- Prestwick Elementary, which exclusively serves students from The Tribute, rose from an 85 to a 91
With more than 7,500 students enrolled, Little Elm ISD now performs on par with or above nearby districts like Lewisville ISD, Lake Dallas ISD, and Pilot Point ISD — and Little Elm High School is outperforming campuses such as Hebron, Lone Star, The Colony, and Denton High Schools.
This progress is especially notable given that 45% of Little Elm ISD students are economically disadvantaged. For comparison, neighboring Frisco ISD with just 14% economically disadvantaged students achieved a 90 rating in 2025.
The District’s Student Achievement rating reflects STAAR performance, graduation rates, and post‑secondary readiness — and Little Elm ISD is delivering.
In addition, Little Elm High School earned an A rating in “Closing the Gaps,” a key part of Texas’ school accountability system that measures how effectively schools support all student groups, including students from different economic, academic, and demographic backgrounds. That A rating was driven by a 28‑point improvement over the past two years, demonstrating meaningful, equitable growth across the entire student body.
Lamb credits the District’s turnaround to consistency and focus. In 2023, schools were still recovering from pandemic disruption. Today, he says, “We’re not in survival mode anymore.” That shift is clearly showing up in results.
At Little Elm High School:
- College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) rose from 42% in 2023 to 85% in 2025
- SAT and ACT scores are up
- More students are taking Advanced Placement (AP) courses and earning college‑credit scores
- LEHS earns Bronze Award for the College Board AP School Honor Roll
The Class of 2025 includes students accepted to universities such as the University of Texas, Texas A&M, SMU, Georgetown, and the University of Pennsylvania. Those graduates included Little Elm ISD’s first-ever National Merit Scholar, Timothy Teo.
Little Elm ISD builds its schools around four essential pillars: Academics, Arts, Athletics, and Acquired Skills.
Career and Technical Education (CTE) is a major strength. Of Little Elm High School’s 2,526 students last year, 2,148 pursued CTE endorsements, earning 1,042 industry‑based certifications across programs such as engineering, health science, IT, law, hospitality, and teaching. Every campus in the district is STEM‑certified.
Student organizations are thriving:
- National qualifiers in Technology Student Association
- State‑level competitors in Future Health Professionals (HOSA) and Texas Association of Future Educators
- LEHS Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) named District 12 Chapter of the Year
For the first time in both the athletic program and school history, Little Elm High School is celebrating a state championship. In March, the 2026 varsity boys basketball team captured the title in their first-ever appearance at the Texas UIL State Championship—taking down the seasoned Westlake Chaparrals, who had made the trip once before.
The momentum doesn’t stop there. LEHS is also home to a two-time All-State wrestler. And year after year, excellence continues beyond high school, with an average of 24 student-athletes signing collegiate commitments.
Its fine arts program continues to gain national recognition, earning the Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) District of Distinction award for the third straight year and being named a Best Community for Music Education by the National Association of Music Merchants for the fourth consecutive year.
Recent highlights include:
- LEHS Winter Guard — 2025 Scholastic Open World Champions
- Percussion Ensemble — Featured at the prestigious Midwest Clinic in Chicago
- LEHS Blue Angels — Runner‑Up at a national championship in Florida
- Prestwick Elementary Treblemakers — First ensemble to perform at Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA)
- LEHS percussionist advance to State Band and perform with the top 3% selected to perform with the best musicians at the TMEA Conference
- State‑advancing visual arts students at both high school and middle school levels
Little Elm ISD isn’t slowing down. The District plans to grow programs like tennis and golf, aiming to become a magnet for specialized athletic development. It’s also launching Lobos Connect, a new virtual learning option in the 2026–27 school year designed to keep students connected while offering flexibility.
As Lamb says, “We don’t feel like we’re done in any way. We’ve got more to do.” For families in The Tribute, that momentum means confidence — confidence that great things are happening in our schools, and that the future of Little Elm ISD is brighter than ever.
