Over 20 Fun Things for Tribute Residents to Do in the Community and Around The Colony

Over 20 Fun Things for Tribute Residents to Do in the Community and Around The Colony

Living in The Tribute means the good stuff starts right outside your front door. Between the shoreline trails, resort-style pools and community events built into daily life here, there’s rarely a reason to load up the car. And when you do want to explore, The Colony’s live entertainment, parks and only-in-Texas attractions are just minutes away. Here’s our list of more than 20 fun ways to spend a day — starting in The Tribute, then branching out into the city we call home.

Right in the Neighborhood

  1. Walk, run or bike The Tribute Shoreline Trail. This resident favorite winds more than three miles through 600 acres of protected habitat along Lewisville Lake, with interpretive signage highlighting the native plants and animals you’ll pass along the way. It’s open from sunrise to sunset.
  2. Log miles on more than ten miles of neighborhood trails and the rubberized jogging track that connects The Tribute’s villages. Lace up whenever the mood strikes; no membership or reservation required.
  3. Cool off at one of The Tribute’s resort-style infinity-edge pools, then let the kids run and slide through the children’s spray park. All are steps from home and included as part of living in the community.
  4. Launch a kayak from one of The Tribute’s two community kayak launches and paddle out onto Lewisville Lake. Don’t have your own kayak? No problem! Whip out your phone and rent one on-site from a convenient app!
  5. Rally for a match on the two pickleball courts. Evening games are just as easy as afternoon ones, thanks to the lights.
  6. Let your pup off leash at one of The Tribute’s two dog parks, built right into the community for four-legged neighbors.
  7. Let the kids burn off energy at one of The Tribute’s playgrounds and playscapes, scattered throughout the neighborhood within walking distance.
  8. Enjoy a drink on the patio or a meal at the pub at Golf Clubs at The Tribute, no tee time or membership required.
  9. Play a round on one of the two award-winning courses at Golf Clubs at The Tribute, including the signature course inspired by Scotland’s St. Andrews.
  10. Cast a line into one of the many canals that wind throughout The Tribute. If you don’t have your own gear, check out a rod and tackle for free from The Colony Public Library’s Library of Things; adult cardholders can borrow it for up to seven days (a Texas Fishing License is still required).
  11. Watch for seasonal festivals, outdoor movie nights, and Fourth of July fireworks and cookouts, all organized by The Tribute’s full-time lifestyle coordinator specifically for residents.
  12. Preview what’s coming at The Tribute Marina & Lakeside Park, opening in the fourth quarter of 2026. Even before the marina is fully open, residents can walk the waterfront and picture future afternoons of sand volleyball, bocce ball, and picnics on the lawn.
  13. Cheer on Prestwick Elementary and Strike Middle School, both located within The Tribute, at their STEM showcases and community events — a rare perk of living in a neighborhood built around its own schools.
  14. Snap photos at some of The Tribute’s most Insta-worthy backdrops: the signature entry tower, the resident goats, the lake at sunset, or the fields of bluebonnets that bloom each spring.

A Short Drive Away in The Colony

  1. Walk or bike the other half of the shoreline system, The Colony Shoreline Trail, a 10-foot-wide, 3.5-mile path with trailheads at Stewart Creek Park and Ridgepoint Park. It’s a nice change of scenery from your neighborhood loop.
  2. Catch free live entertainment on the Lawn at Grandscape, from concerts to movie screenings to guided workout classes.
  3. Tour a working microbrewery on the first Saturday of the month at Windmills, complimentary and led by the restaurant’s own brewmasters.
  4. Browse programs and events at The Colony Public Library, from story time to teen craft workshops to the adult Spice Club, and borrow pickleball gear or power tools from the Library of Things while you’re there.
  5. Go on a geocaching hunt around town, from scenic parks to spots you’ve driven past a hundred times without noticing.
  6. Catch free live music at The Rackhouse or Truck Yard.
  7. Wander NFM for its rotating monthly events, from celebrity appearances to tech demos.
  8. Walk under the 16,000-gallon saltwater aquarium and animatronic sports legends at SCHEELS.
  9. View the eclectic Barney Smith’s Toilet Seat Art Museum, a former roadside attraction now permanently housed above Truck Yard.

Whether you never leave the neighborhood or spend the weekend exploring The Colony, there’s always something fun to do close to home.
