Up, Up & Away! Festival of Flight Returns to The Tribute in The Colony for an Afternoon of Sky-High Fun

Annual Free Community Event Celebrates Flight, Wind and Adventure on May 2

THE COLONY, TX — The City of The Colony, in partnership with The Tribute Lakeside Golf & Resort Community, announces the return of the annual Up, Up & Away! Festival of Flight. Taking place on Saturday, May 2, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, this beloved community tradition will transform the grounds of Prestwick Elementary into a vibrant celebration of all things that take to the sky.

Located at 3101 Stonefield in The Colony, this FREE community event invites residents and visitors of all ages to look upward and celebrate the themes of flight and wind. The festival’s centerpiece is a spectacular open kite-flying experience. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own kites or purchase one on-site to add their own colors to The Tribute community skyline.

“The Up, Up & Away! Festival of Flight is designed to be more than just an event; it’s an opportunity for families to unplug and engage in hands-on, outdoor fun,” said Travis Marsh, Special Events Supervisor with The Colony Parks & Recreation Department.

Mary Day, Director of Marketing for The Tribute community, agrees, “By partnering with the City of The Colony, we are able to create an environment where children and adults alike can explore the wonders of flight while creating lifelong memories.”

Festival Highlights Include:

  • Hands-On Exploration: Craft activity tables and interactive experiences focused on the science and joy of flight.
  • Entertainment for All: Live performances on the festival stage, a large-scale bubble play area, and various rides, inflatables and games.
  • Skyward Spectacles: A special appearance from a hot air balloon (weather permitting) and ongoing kite displays.
  • Local Flavor: A diverse lineup of food trucks and local business vendors.
  • Giveaways: Fun festival mementos available throughout the afternoon (while supplies last).

Admission is free, and the event is open to the general public.
